WHAT IS A POWDER BROW TATTOO
Powder brows, or (ombre powder brows), is a treatment that uses a special shading technique for achieving natural looking eyebrows with a powder effect. It uses a combination of dots and shading to fill in the brows, making them look thicker and more symmetrical. The result is powdery brows that will give your face a makeup look.
POWDER BROWS is a form of semi-permanent tattooing done by machine. This method achieves the look of “powdered brows”, or a more made-up style of eyebrow compared to Microblading. This modality is most comparable to traditional tattooing done with a tattoo machine/needle(s). Many different styles can be achieved with this method, and the results can range from subtle and natural to a more bold “makeup” look. This option is great for clients with little to no existing eyebrow hair. The same pigments are used in this procedure as is used for the Microblading procedure.
Each set of brows is designed specifically for the client. Together we will decide on the best size, shape, and color to compliment your features, making any adjustments necessary in your follow-up appointment. Because Powder Brows is a two-part process, we highly recommend booking your follow-up appointment 5-8 weeks after your initial appointment, and having that scheduled 2 months prior to coming to your first session. Every person and skin type is different, so healed results can vary. We want to make sure that you are completely satisfied with your new brows. So take advantage of the opportunity to make sure the final result is perfect by booking Part 2 ahead of time!
*PLEASE NOTE: If you have had your eyebrows previously tattooed, you MUST disclose this information to the artist prior to booking and provide a clear photo via email for assessment. If the tattoo is determined to be too dark, multiple saline tattoo removal sessions will be recommended prior to scheduling an appointment. We do not guarantee results for cover-up work and additional appointments may be needed to achieve the best results (which will be charged accordingly).
ARE POWDER BROWS PERMANENT?
Unlike traditional tattooed brows, this treatment is not permanent. The pigment is applied much more superficial, resulting in a more comfortable treatment. The treatment is considered semi-permanent, which means that the color will fade after some time.
HOW LONG DOES A POWDER BROW TATTOO LAST?
Depending on your skin type, lifestyle and how you treat your brows, they can last from one to three years. With the regular yearly color boost touch ups, you can prolong the effect and crisp look of your brows.
FACTORS THAT AFFECT POWDER BROWS
- Skin type – certain skin types heal faster and the pigment sets in perfectly
- Age – older skin heals more slowly
- Smoking – slows down the healing process significantly
- Physical activity – if you sweat a lot, it will negatively affect the healing process
- Exposure to the sunlight – avoid direct exposure to the sun
- Previous permanent makeup in the area
WHEN CAN I WEAR MAKEUP AFTER POWDER BROW TATTOO?
During the healing period, the area is sensitive and prone to infections. Therefore, you will have to promise to avoid applying any makeup around the area for 1 week. You can continue your normal daily routine after the healing period is over.
HEALING PROCESS OF POWDER BROWS AUSTIN
Since the procedure involves inserting tiny dots of pigment gradually into the skin, making sure there are no harsh edges but a soft and smooth shading effect, your brows will be a bit swollen and too dark immediately after the treatment.
The healing process takes 4-6 weeks, during which you need to be extra careful about your brows. Here is what you can expect during the healing period:
Day One (Day of treatment): Wait 1-2 hours and let the wounds weep lymph. After 2 hours you must wipe off the lymph with a moistened cotton pad, then apply a thin layer pf Aquaphor with a cotton swab. Do this every hour on the hour until bed. At night wash the treated area with warm water and mild soap (Cetaphil, Cerave, Elta Foaming).
***Wash your hands with a disinfectant soap before washing your eyebrows and/or applying the postcare cream.
Day Two – Nine: Repeat the wiping of the brows at least 2 times a day. At night, wash your hands with a disinfectant soap before anything else. Then, wash the treated area gently with warm water and mild soap (Cetaphil, Cerave, Elta Foaming). Apply Aquaphor lightly. Too much Aquaphor will cause the pigment to scab. Apply just enough to moisten. Aquaphor is available in the skin care section of any drug store.
HOW WILL MY HEALING POWDER BROW LOOK?
Day 1 and 2: Your brows are too dark and they look like a block of pigment. Also, redness is present and they might be swollen. You might not be satisfied, but be prepared for this.
Day 3: The first thing you will notice is scabbing. After the ombre powder brows treatment, scabs fall off in one big or a few big pieces.
Day 4 – 10: This period is the most difficult to overcome, Scabs keep falling off, leaving your brows in patches. Your brows are itchy but under no circumstances should you scratch or touch them. Carry on with the aftercare routine and be patent.
Day 10 – 14: Your brows look too light and you must think that the whole process has been unsuccessful. Scabs are not that common anymore. The healing period is almost over.
Day 14 – 21: Your brows are coming back! They are taking their final shape and look much better. However, they might still look a little bit patchy and uneven.
Day 21 – 30: Your brows are completely healed. Now it’s time to book a touch-up appointment to correct any possible patches and flaws.
SCABBING POWDER BROW TATTOO
Scabbing after powder brow tattoo is quite normal and very common. Most people experience it. However, heavy scabbing can be worrying and you should contact your powder brow artist if you have any concerns.
Scabs don’t appear immediately after the treatment. You can expect them after 3-5 days, and they can last up to two weeks. It is important not to touch them because you can seriously damage your eyebrows and slow down the healing process.
Do not try to stop scabbing. What you can do is gently “wash” your brows in the morning and in the evening with a cotton pad and a little bit of sterile water. Apply aquafor ointment LIGHTLY to the area with a q-tip and stimulate the scabs to fall off faster.
HOW TO CARE FOR POWDER BROWS | OMBRE POWDER BROWS
Once the healing period is over and your powder brow or ombre brows have taken the final look, you can be more relaxed. Now you can wash your face normally, apply makeup, work out etc. Book regular touch-ups yearly. Also, avoid using face products that contain retinols or Retin-A, glycolic or lactic acids around the area as this will contribute to fading.
HOW OFTEN DO I TOUCH UP POWDER BROW | OMBRE POWDER BROW
Ombre powder treatment consists of two visits, with the first touch up being mandatory within 5-7 weeks. The purpose of the first touch up is to correct any imperfections or light spots caused by scabbing or improper healing. For example, if your skin didn’t take the pigment in some spots, this touch up is to fix it.
